Wisedocs was created to shake up the claims industry and make some much needed change, and 2023 brought us closer to that goal. We’ve been keeping busy with a new suite of product options, unveiling tools from medical summary generation to visual timelines and lists. All of this not only brings the platform one step closer to becoming the be-all, end-all to reduce processing times, it also means fewer manual tasks and less paperwork. That’s a win all around!

This year saw Wisedocs release new products, add AI features, and add some much-requested tools for the claims platform. Here are some of the product highlights from 2023:

Wisedocs' Product Feature: Medical summaries

The biggest leap forward for medical document processing this year was Wisedocs medical summarization tool. Built as an extension of the original Wisedocs medical record indexing technology, the new tool allows users to generate a custom summary of medical documents in a file.

Thousands of pages worth of information can be summarized based on a claimant’s medical records. Not only that, the tool allows users to extract the information they need in real time and access the pages the information is pulled from. Fully customizable medical summaries can be created for complex records. This saves time across the entire insurance ecosystem, supporting users from medical evaluators to lawyers in addition to the insurance adjusters handling key parts of the claim.

Wisedocs' Product Feature: Chronologies and timelines

Wisedocs timelines lets users see the medical history of a claimant in a calendar view. With the tool claims professionals can use the power of AI to summarize thousands of pages of medical documents at a glance. By combining various dates, times, and injuries into one easy to digest timeline, the calendar ensures insurance adjusters and other claims professionals can get a visual peek at the contents of a file before they even start opening the docs.

This wouldn't be possible just by looking at a stack of paper, as medical documents for a claim can number into the thousands. Better yet, the timeline feature is interactive. Users can dig deeper into each stage of the patient’s medical history, or use advanced tools for filtering and search.

Being able to chronologize a claimant’s medical history and highlight important assessments, exams, and injury dates not only leads to swifter resolution and a more accurate claim, it also saves knowledge workers plenty of administrative time.

Wisedocs' Product Feature: List view

What medications is the patient on? What prescriptions have they filled? Have they had any other injuries prior to the claim? This information helps insurance adjusters, lawyers, underwriters, and medical evaluators make an informed decision on a claim. Having this information at a glance, such as a targeted search query or filter, makes the whole process easier.

List view, also rolled out in 2023, gives users the ability to see the information they need with a few clicks. Lists do in minutes what used to take knowledge workers hours. What does it mean for claims? Faster, more accurate decision making.

Insurance adjusters spend an average of four hours reviewing documents for a claim. Decision fatigue and vast amounts of paperwork combine to lead to long processing times and incorrect information. Tools like list view give insurance adjusters the right information at the right time: minimizing stress.

Wisedocs' Product Feature: Custom Synopsis

With custom synopsis, users can access the same ability to generate a summary based on the records in the claim. The synopsis tool gives users the ability to pull out relevant docs, summarize them, and incorporate them into evaluation.

“Adjusters, underwriters, and medical teams have to determine whether the claim is legitimate, the data is accurate, and the sources are there to support the data,” says Michelle Nokes, the Customer Success Manager at Wisedocs. She says the launch of the feature will help to “solve an immediate time and resource constraint for the insurance claims ecosystem.”

Wisedocs' feature launches for 2024

The new features rolled out in 2023 have opened the door to innovative AI capabilities that help users get the information, sources, and data that they need to move a claim forward — but we’re not done. This year’s rollout brought us one step closer to our goal, and we at Wisedocs are excited to see what is to come.
